Avigilon Security Cameras for Dior at Somerset Collection in Troy, Michigan

The Challenge

Dior opened its first Michigan boutique at Somerset Collection on West Big Beaver Road in Troy, one of the premier luxury shopping destinations in the Midwest. A luxury fashion boutique carries high-value merchandise in a compact space, and the two areas that matter most are the retail sales floor, where clients shop, and the rear stockroom, where inventory is received and stored.

The store asked Michigan Security Systems to install four high-resolution security cameras covering both areas. Just as important, the system had to work for people who are not always in the building: store management and Dior’s corporate security team needed to view the cameras remotely, both live and in playback, so they could locate and review an issue quickly from wherever they are. And because the boutique sits inside a busy regional mall, the work had to be done without disrupting shoppers, mall traffic, or the store’s business day.

The Solution

Michigan Security Systems designed and installed a complete commercial camera system built on Avigilon, an enterprise-grade platform we install and support across Michigan. The project included:

• Four high-resolution Avigilon security cameras — placed to cover the rear stockroom and the retail sales floor, giving clear, detailed video of the areas where merchandise is handled and displayed.
• A new recording server — to record and store video from every camera for review.
• A network rack — a clean, organized home for the server and network equipment, so the system is easy to service and expand.
• Remote live view and playback — configured so store management and corporate security can securely watch cameras live and search recorded footage remotely to locate issues.

Installed before the mall opened. Our team scheduled the installation for the early morning hours, before Somerset Collection opened to shoppers, so there was no disruption to mall traffic or to the boutique’s business. Every part of the job — from mounting and aiming the cameras to building the rack and setting up remote access — was done by our own licensed Michigan technicians. There were no subcontractors on this project.

The Result

Dior’s Somerset Collection boutique now has high-resolution Avigilon coverage of both its sales floor and its stockroom, recorded on a dedicated server. Store management and corporate security can pull up any camera live or go back through recorded video remotely, which lets them find and investigate an issue in minutes instead of waiting until someone is on site.

The client and store management told us they were happy with the work, and two things stood out to them: our technicians cleaned up completely after themselves, leaving a luxury retail space ready to open on time, and they took the time to answer every question about how the system works.
